There are some illnesses that are linked with Iodine deficiency, most notably Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and Parkinson's.

The resulting correlations suggest that mortality from Parkinsonism, multiple sclerosis and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis occurs most often in recently glaciated, iodine deficient regions, that were formerly marked by elevated goiter prevalence. (1)

I remember reading some anecdotal evidence of iodine IV contrast in radiological imaging was associated with MS relapse.

There's been a great deal of data collected about IV contrast and possible side effects. However, I am having trouble finding research into more long term possible side effects and IV contrast.

I wondering is there is any research into the possible long term side effects of IV iodine contrast and if there is, what the results are. I have a specific interest in connective tissue disease, autoimmune disease.
