I am a college students brainstorming ideas on different topics that may be appropriate for on-campus research. What I came up with and I would like to give it a try is analyze the different types of bacteria and organisms found on computer keyboards. Furthermore, I would like to test this against different cleaning products and asses whether they have any effect on killing the germs.

I was wondering if anyone could direct me towards great biological journals or articles/website that I could use to develop more ideas.

Thank you

There are either too many possible answers, or good answers would be too long for this format. Please add details to narrow the answer set or to isolate an issue that can be answered in a few paragraphs. If this question can be reworded to fit the rules in the help center, please edit the question.

What is your level of experience in biology, especially in the lab? And what kind of equipment do you have available? – Chris Mar 15 '14 at 19:42
I am junior currently taking cell biology. The equipment may be proposed, other students were able to request grants in order to cover the cost of the equipment. Our lab is small but it holds the basic tools, we just got a new PCR machine – Laura Mar 15 '14 at 20:25
