News reports state that MH370 flew at 45,000 feet for 23 minutes, and, assuming the cabin was no longer pressurized, that would have caused unconsciousness in the passengers.

Based on this, what, if anything, is known about survivability of extreme altitude for people who are resting, in otherwise survivable conditions (e.g. temperature)?
