I know that proteins strongly absorb UV at 280 nm. I have 3 questions:

  1. What happens to proteins when they absorb UV?
  2. Do different proteins absorb different wavelengths ?
  3. Does water absorb UV as nearly as well as the proteins?

Is this a homework? The questions are easy enough to answer with Google and Wikipedia. – January Oct 17 '12 at 16:50
At least one of these questions was answered in your previous question on Bio.SE. – leonardo Oct 17 '12 at 17:36
