I'm a programmer by profession and passion. I've been interested in biology, especially regarding evolution in school. Now I would like to learn Anthropology in my free time. Can you point me to some authoritative resources to do so? (Also, do you think learning biology now will be a total waste of time and resources?)

Anthropology is a huge field and there are likely to be lots of possibly useful resources. I would suggest asking in chat. – Rory M♦ Dec 1 '12 at 21:20
