Well it's such a simple question I don't really see a need for citation. Google is full of this so use keywords: play fun games children as an evolutionary function eat sleep sex

@Chris Ebola has simular reservoirs somewhere we have yet to identify outside of human hosts. I do not know if there have been any vertical transfers to those locations which would be detected by carry forward variants of the virus.

@Chris i dont agree that HIV is less dangerous than Ebola however i will say that your observation that a equally fit individual which is different is possible but unlikely given the uptick in effective deaths.

@fileunderwater thats fine. we agree. long term total kills may be where its at.

the question then becomes what is it fit toward? you argue that this new optimization is specific to the local minima of human health it picked a weak spot and that it need not reflect a positive change in the overall abilities of the virus when compared with humanity. i likewise simply say that regardless of the place on the local minima that the optimizations at the minima results of a in depth spread which positively affects its ability to further optimize itself against the global maxima of human health. @Chris

survival of the fittest means that if the virus could operate at a more fit rate it would have stayed the same and not changed. whatever this is is more fit than it was before. just like siv became hiv to spread this thing is changing becoming more fit and as it does its impact is increasing
