comment Is there any biological reason for humans to rest after x days of work?
My point is that with few exceptions, weekend is not the time to "take it slow and relax".

comment Why do drugs which are hormones have long half-life?
Can you give a specific example? Water soluble hormones differ from non-soluble in their half life. Also, many drugs contain modified hormones (e.g. insuline analogs).

comment Why does high-voltage mostly shock a person, and even small current kill?
I come in touch with several kV every day (static electricity).

comment Why does high-voltage mostly shock a person, and even small current kill?
110V 10+ amps would have killed you on the spot. However, the point is that these 10 amps are nominal, the most current that can be provided without blowing a fuse. The real current is given by the resistance and voltage. Also, the physics is such: given that your resistance remains constant, you do not have the alternative "high volts, low amps vs low volts, high amps".

comment Genetic engineering for insulin production
@Bitwise: but you are right -- they don't have a spliceosome, but self-splicing is also a splicing mechanism.

comment Genetic engineering for insulin production
@leonardo: again, strictly speaking bacteria do have posttranslational modifications of proteins including glycosylation.

comment Genetic engineering for insulin production
@Bitwise: that is not true -- there are bacterial introns and bacteria have splicing -- but yes, the mechanism is different, so it would not work in a straightforward manner.

comment Do Viruses produce a biomagnetic field?
Apart from that, what kind of magnetic field would you need to influence a virus? Not influencing your own cells at the same time?
