comment Questions regarding ELISA
So, if I understand correctly, the primary antibody of mice and rabbits will also respond the same way as human antibodies to the Epstein-Barr virus?

comment Conjugate secondary antibody
@AlanBoyd Sorry, I still have some doubt whether I grasp secundary antibodies. Every species has (or better: can have) a secondary antibody per animal right? So for example; we can have secondary antibodies for primary antibodies of rabbits, chimps, mice, etc. So that would still be a lot of possible secondary antibodies, but anyway less than primary antibodies.

comment Why does the cold make us sick?
But a virus must be considerably more stable in colder air, since 'catching a cold' from the cold is very easy, and I have never caught a cold in the summer. Is it that considerable a difference?

comment Conjugate secondary antibody
In other words; otherwise you would have to make a conjugate for every primary antibody?

comment Statement about Tropical Rainforests
@jonsca I don't know why I am coming back to this after a month and a half, but 'laden with ambiguities' is a hyperbole. I don't appreciate hyperboles on sites like these.

comment Why does the cold make us sick?
@DanielStandage I doubt that's the main reason. I'm sure it has some truth to it, especially with the common cold, however, I find it hard to believe that it's the main reason.

I'd prefer answers to this questions under 'answers', not under comments.

comment Is there any biological reason that professional swimming is dominated by white people?
Well, a friend of mine, an annoying one mind you, keeps telling me that he saw a SCIENTIFIC program on tv which explained that there aren't many black swimmers because they don't float as well, I remember it had something to do with bone density or lung capacity, I forgot..

I didn't mean immediately in the literal sense.. in the previous sentence I also said 'quick mineralisation' which shows that..

that's what happens in a rain forest, it happens much more quickly than in a temperate forest for example
