What is the functional and structural distinction between core (H2A, H2B, H3,H4) and linker(H1/H5) histones? You switched the core and linker histones. |

Can scientists create totally synthetic life? This is a great question, and Larian LeQuella answered pretty thoroughly to it. I just wanted to add that it is exciting time to be a synthetic biologist. Scientists have now the tools to build anything they have ever dreamed about. |

How many human proteins have a solved 3D structure? @GWW I guess that writing a small script can get rid of the redundancy. |

What determines a successful protein expression in E. coli? Thanks for your answer. I like the idea of adding additional T7 promoter, although having repetitive sequences might lead to other future problems (I don't want to go into details). But I work with genes which are 3 times larger in size and one promoter for the 2 subunits works well. Perhaps it is very sequence specific. |

How many people's DNA were involved in the compilation of the reference human genome? Haha, is Venter's genome public? |
