Hey there, my name is Lance Lafontaine.

I am a Cell and Molecular Biology undergraduate student at Concordia University, aspiring to be a biotechnologist/synthetic biologist. I am interested in all that's related to science, technology, and freethinking, among other things.

comment Why do some fruits have a much wider range of acceptable sizes than others?
This is also essentially two questions in one. We could be asking "What can explain the size difference in pumpkins", and "Why are all apples of similar size".

comment What evolutionary mechanism caused felines to develop purring?
Also, are you looking for an ecological answer (as in why cats perform the action of purring), or a physiological/anatomical answer (as in why a cat's purr sounds like it does)?

@CHM, just because a question does not have a clear-cut answer, it doesn't mean it isn't a valid question. Exploring such questions and explaining why or how is what scientific thinking is about.

Maybe I should ask another question about the definition of life ahah! Although I feel that it'd be more of a debate than anything...

And in some respects, the question is similar to this one:biology.stackexchange.com/questions/90/life-without-dna
