@Kevin: That's why I believe the image is taken out of its intended context. For example, it might be showing the mean pressure and not max systolic pressure.

Also note that only the systolic BP increases. The diastolic actually decreases. Don't know about the mean.

All vessels in my example are major arteries. Your image does not seem to be made to show that the pressure is lower in the arterioles and capillaries.

@bobthejoe: Even with a good model of the arterial system, calculating these velocities through a model would probably not work. I'm looking for actual measurements, e.g. as those Larry posted for the MCA.
