Why is blood pressure higher the more distal an artery is? @Kevin: That's why I believe the image is taken out of its intended context. For example, it might be showing the mean pressure and not max systolic pressure. |

Why is blood pressure higher the more distal an artery is? Also note that only the systolic BP increases. The diastolic actually decreases. Don't know about the mean. |

Why is blood pressure higher the more distal an artery is? All vessels in my example are major arteries. Your image does not seem to be made to show that the pressure is lower in the arterioles and capillaries. |

Does arterial blood always flow away from the heart? oh no, which one should I accept? |

How fast is the blood flow in various vessels? @bobthejoe: Even with a good model of the arterial system, calculating these velocities through a model would probably not work. I'm looking for actual measurements, e.g. as those Larry posted for the MCA. |

How fast is the blood flow in various vessels? I didn't think the flow varied much between rest and high activity? A comparison would be nice. Yes, human adults. |
