-1. While I appreciate your contribution, it completely misses the mark in answering the simple question. There was no assumption or innuendo in my question. The premise was simple: as a species, humans have clearly evolved a set of cognitive abilities and motivators that have lead to technological feats. By comparison, I do not know of any termites that purchase Trane AC systems for their homes or pilot jet aircraft. My question pertained to the "why" behind that. bobthejoe has provided the best answer to that question. I am voting this answer down because it is tangential.
