PhD in Pharmacology. My pet molecules are called nuclear receptors and I do research with them studying the relationships between nutritional messengers and gene expression. My preferred technique is bioluminescence imaging, and I love to use it with new reporter gene approaches.

How high is the energy yield of photovoltaics compared to photosynthesis? @David. Thanks, fixed the point: of course energy can not be produced/created. My curiosity indulges in the application: could we ever use plants for domestic energy requirements?. It seems photovoltaic are much better, do you agree? |

Pipetting damage on cells Artem is right: the only way to say is empirically. The P1000 will influence the cell damage likely because of the velocity. In contrast, the P200 and P20 could give some damage due to the narrow tip hole. |

How to store vegetables in the refrigerator: In plastic bags or not? You may want to make a scientific experiment with your own fridge. That would be the most authoritative source for your own conditions. Just split the same veggies in two groups (with or without bag) and consume them after few days. Replicate the experiment at least three times. If you find differences, you have the evidence. If you don't find differences, forget the conundrum and make peace with your wife. |

Is there any difference in terms of personal healthcare between complete DNA sequencing and SNPs genotyping? Not my field, but I guess most DNA methylation and other epigenetic modifications would be organ specific. I wonder if a buccal swab could give useful information in this context. |

How do nuclear receptors locate each other to form a DNA loop? Not sure NR are actually bending a linear DNA into a loop. The loop, as Shigeta points, could already form by random coiling. Then, NR would stabilize the loop recruiting other coregulators. All together they will act like a glue. |
