Preferred Aspect Ratio for Human Eyes I will add that in other animals, having a wide horizontal angle helps in hunting and also in defending against hunters. The vertical angle is also important, for example for hunting birds, but not so much for terrestrial animals. |

Why do eukaryotic organisms have introns in their DNA? I think the Lynch and Conery paper is so far the most reasonable explanation on the origin of introns, and combined with the other answer (biology.stackexchange.com/a/1725/658), it gives a complete explanation about the origin and the current fitness advantage of having introns in certain organisms, but not in others. |

Athletes: nature vs. nurture? I wonder if a case/control genetic study would be informative here: obtain genetic information from athletes (cases) and compare against the same genetic marks in the general population (controls). |

Athletes: nature vs. nurture? I am thinking that another good example could be 'sumo wrestlers', who are also very different in body types to the average population. |

What is the difference between naive and adjusted p-values in a GWAS study? Hummm, do you think they included the unadjusted p-value because the adjusted p-value is not very good? |
