If the brain has no pain receptors, how come you can get a headache? The brain "has" nerves, depending on how you define it: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cranial_nerve more accurately as January notes it lacks nociceptors. |

Ramifications and possibility of a diet consuming exclusively of human semen @MCM it may concern human biological processes, but it's not relevant for anything. I don't see how this is any more valuable than any other "how long can I live eating only X" almost all of which are simply rhetorical "just curious" questions with nothing particularly useful about them. |

How did butterflies evolve to have eyes on their wings? All evolution is due to random changes which are selected for. Change is random, selection is not. |

Are mature trees as susceptible to mutation from exposure to radiation as seedlings? Ionizing radiation is harmful because of damage to genes. It's thus far more damaging, to everything, earlier in the development cycle; down to the point of the very first cell, where relatively small doses of radiation can render the potential organism non-viable (like killing the cell outright). Random mutations all over a tree are unlikely to amount to much |

Why are melodies/harmonies perceived as pleasurable by humans? Why was this asked on Biology and not Cognitive Sciences? |
