Is there a detectable amount of bacterial DNA in the blood of infected persons? Yeah I think qPCR is a fairly routine diagnostic for determining a strain. |

Why do we sweat after drinking water and running? @gpuguy Do you mean you sweat after exercise even if you drink water? Or do you mean that at rest, in a cool room when one wouldn't usually sweat, you drink a lot of water and then begin to sweat? |

Why are we using upper teeth and lower lip on labiodental sounds? It definitely feels like an unusual jaw movement to do it with your lower teeth. The jaw is required to laterally move forward rather than longitudinally move, which is a more common movement in terms of other vocalisations and eating. |

What makes a wet dog so stinky? This is kind of a physical chemistry question really as it is related to the evaporation of volatile compounds rather than biochemistry specifically. |

Does anyone have any TOPO directional cloning tips? thanks @bobthejoe. I suppose you are correct it is more of a point of discussion, apologies for that. The original cloning underwent trouble shooting and the problem could could still not be solved. This question can be closed. |

Does anyone have any TOPO directional cloning tips? Ah sorry I should clarify, I first tried the traditional approach to cloning by inserting restriction sites either side of my gene via PCR then double digesting the PCR product and target vector. Following double digestion I then attempted a ligation but I nor my colleagues could get any positive transformants. So I am moving to a different method of cloning using the TOPO kit and I am wondering if anyone has any pointers before I begin using it. It is the pET101/D-TOPO kit. |

Majority of transcripts are from sense strand? You are indeed correct, as the antisense strand is used as the template to make the mRNA translation of the DNA sense strand. |
