This is an interesting paper. I've not picked through it in detail, but it seems to assume we started with the triplet code immediately and did not pass through a doublet code as other people have proposed ( imb-jena.de/~sweta/genetic_code_and_evolution/evolution.html )

@Jay, Maxim : I am not convinced hair has informational feedback. I think it's more that the skin provides the feedback e.g. heat retention information, or stress info due to the weight of the hair.
