Myoglobin serves important function of Oxygen storage in Skeletal and Cardiac muscles. However, It is absent in smooth muscles. Why is it absent in smooth muscles? Why smooth muscles don't need myoglobin? Or does smooth muscle have some substitute/alternative for myoglobin?
