Reading David Attenborough's "Life on Earth" he describes the African army ants super-colony that can hunt, kill and devour creatures far greater than the individual ants. He writes that African army ants can easily kill large insects and even small vertebrates such as rodents and chicks. He also report that a colony of army ants managed to kill a snake trapped in a cage.

What are the biggest animals that a super-colony of African army ants can kill?

  • $\begingroup$ Well, I'm not sure about the rest of the animal kingdom, but ants have been used as means of torture and execution of people. Search for keyword "scaphism" for details. $\endgroup$ Nov 2 at 12:25
