https://phys.org/news/2017-10-whales-dolphins-rich-human-like-cultures.html and such studies/articles demonstrate a high level of Cetacean intelligence. I was wondering if there have been any studies on mercury poisoning and its impact on species' intelligence? Can it be said that dolphin intelligence is significantly impacted by human pollution?

$\begingroup$ From NIH mercury poisoning causes (among other symptomes) mental disturbances such as mood swings and memory loss. $\endgroup$ – Remi.b Oct 16 '17 at 20:40
  • $\begingroup$ FYI, what you linked is not a study but a non-peer reviewed popular article. $\endgroup$ – Remi.b Oct 16 '17 at 20:41

$\begingroup$ Kieran C. R. Fox et al, The social and cultural roots of whale and dolphin brains, Nature Ecology & Evolution (2017). DOI: 10.1038/s41559-017-0336-y (the article just rehashed the study, I assumed a pay wall would limit who could read the information, hence 'study/article' :) ) $\endgroup$ – Ilya Grushevskiy Oct 16 '17 at 20:44
