In articles, such as this, the biology of the HIV infection is explained. However, i haven't been able to find any research explaining how long the virus takes to penetrate the cell layer. The article says that the "battle" against the immune cells takes between 1 to 3 days, which is normally the amount of time used to start PEP. So i would suppose that the cell layer penetration phase is a matter of minutes, couple of hours at most?
