We found this horn and know nothing about its origins. It seems super short! Maybe we are mistaken in thinking it is a horn at all...

  • Hi, welcome to Biology SE, could you provide information on how, where, and when you found it? Also, how heavy is it, and maybe provide a more specific scale such as a coin or ruler? – tox123 Sep 14 at 3:21

I'm pretty sure it's a tooth, maybe from a whale, but I don't know enough answer. Following the suggestions from @tox123 may help you to get an answer. – Michael_A Sep 14 at 16:45
  • @tox123 Although you are right that location etc. is important, isn't the hand enough scale? It's about the size of a hand! – RHA Sep 14 at 18:43
  • If it is a whale, there is only one big enough: sperm whale. I'm not sure; It could also be a fossile tooth from a dinosaur. – RHA Sep 14 at 18:53
  • @RHA meh, hand makes an OK scale, but coins are better. – tox123 Sep 14 at 23:02
