In my syllabus, it says that one mechanism of antiviral actions is that "Antiviral drugs may work by altering the cell’s genetic material so that the virus cannot use it to multiply". However, when I read 'genetic material', I think 'DNA'. Is this a correct interpretation? If so, how would changing the cell's DNA stop viral replication?
