On a worksheet in my biology class, we have the following question:

Complete the following: Pepsin, a type of protease, digests _______ into smaller molecules called _______. This occurs in the _________. Digestion is completed in the small intestine where the __________________ provides more protease. To complete digestion into small absorbable ________ ________, peptidases are released by the _________ _________.

So far, I have filled in the following:

Pepsin, a type of protease, digests proteins into smaller molecules called peptides This occurs in the stomach Digestion is completed in the small intestine where the __________________ provides more protease. To complete digestion into small absorbable ________ ________, peptidases are released by the _________ _________.

First, I’m not sure what in the small intestine provides protease, but I know that digestion is completed in the small intestines by enzymes such as sucrase, maltase, lactase and pancreatic amylase. However, I’m confused as there is only one long blank and I cannot figure out if there’s a broader term to fit in here.

for the blanks after I believe it would be:

“small absorbable amino acids, peptidases are released by the nucleic acids”?
