As we know that most animal cells are anchorage dependent cells, so they form a monolayer only when a suitable substrate is provided to them.. When a semi solid nutrient media is prepared and cells are cultured on that cells are directly attached to the media surface not the plate's surface itself.. So why does it matter if the culture plate we are using is made up of glass/plastic/metal?
