There is numerous biological difference between human races, from height to average BMI to various organ size. Oddly however there is very little disparity in regards to intelligence (when accounting for poverty; Kaufman et al. 1995). My question is why? It would seem that the brain is just another organ subject to the arbitrary differences between races.

  • $\begingroup$ What is the "when accounting for poverty" you put in there? $\endgroup$ – sterid Apr 18 '19 at 15:29
  • $\begingroup$ @sterid quite a few factors aside from genetics affect intelligence, particularly child malnutrition (see Flynn Effect), as such it wouldn't be accurate to take a sample size from Africa to Europe and apply it raw, instead most studies will contrast different ethnic groups in America to get a clearer picture. $\endgroup$ – Shmuel Newmark Apr 18 '19 at 15:35
  • $\begingroup$ Can you please cite studies when you claim there is very little disparity in regards to intelligence? Intelligence is an awful concept to define and different studies may be hard to compare but from studies I personally looked at, it mainly seem that we don't know much about population structure for IQ (not that there is not any). Ashkenazi jew, typically, might be on average quite a bit smarter than the average human (see this skeptics.SE post) $\endgroup$ – Remi.b Apr 18 '19 at 15:38

$\begingroup$ @Remi.b See here ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8801240, it's primarily research on Fluid/Crystalized intelligence, and the raw scores do show significant racial disparity, but when corrected for gender and education that disparity becomes statically insignificant $\endgroup$ – Shmuel Newmark Apr 18 '19 at 15:52

$\begingroup$ The subject is very taboo and politically incorrect. Despite 100ds of studies, scientists have found no clear conclusion. There is a page on wiki called "race and intelligence" which gives no conclusion to about 100 references. Some studies state that Gypsies have an IQ of 60 and Japanese of 110, and if you placed the Japanese guys in a caravan, and the Gypsies in a Japanese schools, the scores would be swapped. Unfortunately, wikipedia cannot tell us if that is the case. $\endgroup$ – aliential Apr 18 '19 at 18:07
