Ureotelism is an adaptation to conserve water, less water is needed to excrete nitrogen compared to in ammonotelism. Is the water usage more or less exactly proportional to the number of nitrogen atoms and the phenomena of colligative properties, i.e., a molecule of urea and ammonia have the same osmotic effect?
