If the human is able to hear a sound of 18KHz, can they hear some sound with 1mS (1 millisecond) = 0.001 second of duration? What is the smallest duration that the human can hear; in other words what is the smallest size of the sound pulse that can be translated to electrical signals by the ear? I'm not biologist, I'm engineer, I think the human ear can discern or distinguish between 18KHz and 20KHz sounds, but hearing only ONE wave of 20KHz => 1 / (20KHz) = 0.00005 second is incredible (I do not think so). I'm asking or duration depending on Frequency I'm expecting something like this (I'm not sure) Freq Duration needed to be aware of the sound 20KHz 0.05S (50 mS) 10KHz 0.04S (40 mS) 5KHz 0.03S (30 mS) 2.5KHZ 0.02S (20 mS)
