In our lab meeting we were chatting about divergent selection. I was confused at some point because I wasn't sure what was the meaning of this work in comparison to [diversifying/disruptive][1] and [other types][2] of selection. Diversifying selection was coined by [J. T. Gulick][3] and I haven't found an [interesting answer to compare with][4] our contemporary definition of these terms. The way I understand this is that, [divergent selection][5] is broader and include directional selection as well as disruptive selection. Is that correct?
