If the human is able to hear a sound of 18KHz, can he hear some sound with 1mS (1 milli Second) = 0.001 second of duration?

What is the lower duration that the human can hear?

I'm not biologist, I'm engineer, I think the human ear can discern or distinguish between 18KHz and 20KHz sounds, but hearing only ONE wave of 20KHz => 1 / (20KHz) = 0.00005 second is incredible (I do not think so).
