Yeast haploid genetics are a big topic in research and the halpoid phase can be maintained for quite a while. Here's a reference for sperm mitochrodrial transcription. Sperm are not the main system for research of hapoid life cycle though humrep.oxfordjournals.org/content/22/6/1585.short
